Description
Suzanne Belote Shanley, co-founder of the Agape Community in Hardwick, MA (http://www.agapecommunity.org/) has been living a life of dedication to the earth, sustainability and nonviolence since 1982, when she and her husband founded the community.
As a lay Catholic community, dedicated to ecumenical and interfaith
outreach, Agape grows its own food, has a straw bale house with solar energy and hot water, compost toilet, and the community members drive a car that runs on “vegetable oil” for fuel, a “veggie” car.
Suzanne will discuss her story: the way that women can be actively engaged in an integrated life of closeness to the earth and the practice of
nonviolence through simple living and conscious choices for beauty and
poetry as antidotes to violence and fear.
**Discussion to follow for those interested**
(a time to talk about what motivates us to live sustainable/nonviolent lives.. or a time to listen to your peers)

Description
PRAY THE DEVIL BACK TO is the gripping account of a group of brave and visionary women who demanded peace for Liberia, a nation torn to shreds by a decades old civil war. Combining contemporary interviews, archival images, and scenes of present-day Liberia the film recounts the experiences and memories of the women who stood up to their country’s tyrannical leader and brutal warlords, in order to bring peace to their tormented country.

Time: 10:00am – 5:00pm
Location: The Agape Community, Ware, MA
Description
Spirituality in Action, will be hosting a service project at the Agape Community in Ware, MA. This will be a great time to get to know one another as we volunteer.
The Agape Community was started as a lay Catholic ministry, but facilitates people of all religions for annual events/service projects. It is a sustainable community that grows its own food in an amazing organic garden, has a straw bale house with solar energy and hot water, compost toilet, and the community members drive a car that runs on “vegetable oil” for fuel, a “veggie” car. They always need volunteers to help them maintain their community and they love educating others about their stance on sustainability and nonviolence.
This Sunday we will be going to help them with whatever they need. We will leave from the Smith Helen Hills Hills Chapel at 10 am and be back by 5pm.
